Stephen was kind enough to explain what happened after the course: he had an idea for a short script that had been written up months ago, but had not really progressed beyond first draft. After the FastTrack course, he used our tools and techniques to work on the storyline. He then rewrote it, and published a new synopsis on Inktip.com. Within 8 hours he had this encouraging nibble from what sounds like a fairly established LA based producer.
Spence and I want to wish him all the best with the project. And when he picks up his first Oscar he'd better name-check us.

Hey, I'd like to hear more about the progress of this deal. Sounds promising - California and all. And I'd I've got to admit I wouldn't mind getting a bit of that action. But. I'm a wee bit curious about the notion of 'buying' short film scripts: can short films make money? Are there reliable revenue streams in short film distribution? Unless they're also buying the right to turn that idea into a feature ...
I'd say you're right Richard. Several successful films (most recently the Saw movies) were adapted from original shorts. The writers made a short film (the saw scene) in order to sell it to potential producers.
